  • The clime of Chengdu is influenced by its location, Sichuan Basin. We know it is easy to hold heat and vapor in a basin, so the annual average temperature is as high as about 16 C (61 F) and the air is humid with clouds and mist in Chengdu. Generally speaking, Chengdu has a subtropical monsoon climate.

    Summer in Chengdu is sweltering, and there is a sharp difference between day and night. July and August are the hottest months in Chengdu. It is advisable to bring a raincoat when go travelling in Chengdu.

    Chengdu has a warm winter, either, with an average temperature of about 5 Centigrade. But you will find the city is overcast and moist even in winter, which makes people feel a little cold.

    It is good times to visit Chengdu from March to June and from September to November, when there is a good weather in the city. Mt.Qingcheng, Xiling Snow Mountain, Mt. Tiantai and Longchi Forest Park are the main scenic spots around Chengdu, and they are also the best places for you to escaping the summer heat in cities.
