The Great Wall is a must-see place in China. You will be surprised by the well design, the majesty and the upright wall of the Great Wall when standing on it. There are some tips for your first time visit to the Great Wall. In a word, that is to visit the right section at the right day in the right time.


  • 1. Right Day

To climb the Great Wall in clear day with sunshine can relax you freely and completely. Spring is a windy and cloudy season in Beijing, summer welcomes heavy rainfall and winter is quite cold in the strong west wind and heavy snow. In a word, autumn is the best season for visiting the Great Wall, with breezes blowing softly in the sunny days.


  • 2. Right Section


 For those who are not afraid of the crowded people and prefer experience of full-service, such as cable cars, beverage carts, T-shirt stands, KTV bars, bathrooms and knickknack. The Badaling section of the Great Wall will be a great choice to you. For those who prefer quieter, steeper and wild situation,   Mutianyuan section of the Great Wall is more suitable


  • 3. Right Time

The best time to visit the Great Wall is during the weekdays. When in weekends and public holidays, it will be quite crowded and inconvenient to take photos.

    Destination: Badaling Great Wall

    Operating time: 6:00am-5:00pm

  • (2)  Bus no.916
    Bus Terminal: Dongzhimen
    Destination: Huairou District (then you take a mini bus from Huairou District to Mutianyu Great Wall)
    Bus Operation Time: 6:00am-5:00pm
    Mini Bus Operation Time: 6:00-20:00
    Bus Fare: RMB 12
    Mini Bus Fare: RMB 40

  • (3) You can also charter a taxi for day trips to the Great Wall. The drive ranges from 1.5 hour to 2.5 hours from the downtown area. The taxi will stop for 2 to 3 hours for you to enjoy the majestic walls. Below are the approximate taxi fares to the different sections of the Great Wall
