Pilled Silk Hill (Diecai HIill), which is located in the northeast of Guilin along the Li River, is one of the most popular attractions in Guilin. Pilled Silk Hill is known the tourists for the amazing scenery and stone carvings and the broken and exposed piled layers of the rock formations, hence the name. Legend has it that there used to be many osmanthus trees on the hill, so it is sometimes called Osmanthus Hill. Besides, as there is a particular strange wind cave in the hill, it is also named the Wind Cave Hill. Nearby the Piled Silk Hill, there are four small hills, Crane Peak, Bright Moon Peak, Siwang Hill and Yuyue Hill, and the main scenic spots of the Piled Silk Hill are the Diecai Pavilion, Wind Cave, Cloud-Catching Pavilion and countless stones with inscriptions created by famous Chinese scribes.

While Entering the Piled Silk Hill Garden, the first distinctive scenic spot is the Piled Silk Pavilion, which is on the hillside of Bright Moon Peak (223 meters high). With 5 meters high, 7.5 meters long and 8.5 meters wide, it is well designed and elaboratelt built with red poles, green tiles, and four unique angles.

After Piled Silk Pavilion, there is a stele standing on the road to Wind Cave in memory of the two loyalists Qu Shisi and Zhang Tongchang of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Keep going you will see the Wind Cave, which penetrates Bright Moon Peak with a wide mouth protruding from either side of the slope and a narrow part in the middle, blows cool breeze in all seasons, no matter what weather is outside. Besides, inside and outside the cave, there are nearly 100 Buddha images of the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, 210 stone carvings.

Finally, you made your way to the top of the Bright Moon Peak, where has the Cloud-Catching Pavilion, a building with a round shape, single eave and a pinnacle. Here is the perfect place to enjoy the picturesque Li River and magnificent Guilin city, as well as the Solitary Beauty Peak and Fubo Hill.

Moreover, the other three ranges of the Piled Silk Hill connected to Bright Moon Peak are also very attractive with unique pavilions, Buddhist sculptures, cliff carvings, eminent stones and evergreen trees etc., such as the Yuyue Pavilion, Huanbi Garden, Wood Dragon Cave etc.
