Seven Star Park

Seven Star Park(Qi Xing Park), which locates on the eastern side of the Li River, is the largest comprehensive and most beautiful park in Guilin covering an area of over 120 hectares. With elegant mountains, miraculous stone forest, deep and serene valleys, valued cultural relics, clear water and plentiful animals and plants, here becomes very popular since the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties. It got its name from the seven peaks that are supposed to resemble the star pattern of the Big Dipper constellation.

The main sights contain Flower Bridge, Putuo Mountain, Seven Stars Cave (at the Putuo Hill), Camel Hill, Crescent Mountain, Guihai Stele Forest and Light of China Square.


Flower Bridge

Flower Bridge, which was built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), is the oldest bridge in Guilin. It got the name because it is set off with blooming flowers and the streams in every spring and summer.


Putuo Mountain

Putuo Mountain, which is the main body of the park, is rich with caves, pavilions and valuable tablets; meanwhile, it is the place where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is worshiped. Xuanfeng Cave lies at the southwestern foot of the mountain; Putuo Jingshe, a 2-storey pavilion, locates at the halfway up the mountain; Seven Stars Cave, which is located at the west belly of the mountain, is rich in various stalactites, stalagmites and stone pillars formed by the dissolved limestone. Turning right and go on climbing the mountain, you will see the Tomb of the Three Generals and the Tombs of 800 Heroes. Moreover, on the top of this mountain, there are Putuo Stone Forest, Xuanwu Pavilion and Zhaixing Pavilion.


Camel Hill

Camel Hill, which lies behind Putuo Mountain, is really like a squat camel, hence the name. Camel Hill is rich in Plum trees, for during the Ming Dynasty, a hermit has once been lived here and grew a large number of plum trees. The best traveling season to here is spring, when the full- blown plum blossom together with the rays of the sunrises or sunsets, which drapes the hill with a gorgeous glow. This is also one of the Ten Scenes of Guilin. Besides, there are bonsai gardens, a zoo and teahouses around this hill.


Crescent Mountain

Crescent Mountain, which is located to the south of putuo Mountain, gets the name for the crescent-shaped stone at its belly. You can see Banyue Pavilion, Crescent Rock and Guanghan Pavilion when walking along the stone steps. Guihai Stele Forest, which is located at the southwestern foot of this mountain, has over 220 tablets on the themes of politics, economy, culture and military affairs in forms of poems, posies, couplets and images. The characters in the tablets are inscribed in regular script, cursive script, seal characters and clerical script. Moreover, Guilhai Stele Forest contains Longyin Cave, Longyin Rock etc. this mountain is also reputed for its maigre food, such as the Nun Noodles, which has a history of over 100 years.


Light of China Square

Light of China Square, which is located between Putuo Mountain and Crescent Mountain, boasts two craftworks, one is the the mural which is made up of over 100 stone carvings epitomizing the 5,000 years China’s civilization. The other is the 4.6 meters high Shi Ji Bao Ding (the precious Ding of the century) which symbolizes the flourishing country and people live in peace.
