Hong Kong Wetland Park

Situated in the north of Tin Shui Wai, the New Territories, Hong Kong Wetland Park was initially intended for an ecological mitigation area to make up the lost wetlands during the urbanization process of Tin Shui Wai. In 1998, there is a research on whether a wetland tourist attraction can be built in Tin Shui Wai done by the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and Hong Kong Tourists Association. As a consequence, they reached an agreement and decided to build a wetland park there but not to weaken its ecological mitigation function. Currently, for its educational and tourism value, the Wetland Park has become a famous nature reserve, which attracts many visitors every year among many Hong Kong attractions.

Covering an area of a 'Wetland Interactive World' about 10,000 square meters (0.25 acres) and over 60 hectares (148 acres) of wetland for wildlife, the Wetland Interactive World is consisted of five exhibition galleries, a projection room, a souvenir shop, a dining room, an indoor play area and a resource center. The five exhibition galleries feature different themes and showcase how important of biodiversity, civilization and conservation on wetland. The wetland reserve contains an area of man-made wetland and a habitat specifically intended for waterfowl and other wildlife. If you want to enter the area of man-made wetland, you can have a close view of various fish, water birds and many other interesting living things. You can have a look at them even play with them. It is believed that this Hong Kong tourism will leave you a deep impression.

In addition to the beautiful scenery, the park is unique for its education to environmental protection. The purpose of these various meaningful exhibitions is to make you aware of importance of wetland protection. Of course, the beautiful scenery in the park will bring you much enjoyment as well. The park puts the Volunteer Scheme into practice. Some nature lovers are willing to be the volunteers to participate in the protection of the wetland. These volunteers not only occupy an important position on the protection of the wetland but also propagandize and appeal the environmental protection in the society. If more and more people take part in this activity, our planet will become more and more beautiful. Owing to Hong Kong tourist, the Hong Kong Wetland Park can get its message across.
