China Folk Culture Villages

China is a big and united family consists of 56 ethnic groups. The China Folk Cultural Village, lying at the Overseas Chinese Town, Shenzhen is the first spot in China where you can know much about the folk cultures of China. It covers more than 200,000 square meters (about 494 acres),and possesses 24 peculiar cottages constructed at a scale of 1:1. It is popular among all the tourists.

In the village, you would find the featuring architecture of ethnic groups and enjoy their distinctive festivals, buying some handicrafts or tasting local snacks as well.


Distinctive Architecture

When come to the Mosuo people's yard, you would find that the archetype of modern flats derivated from the Mosuo people's living structures. They heaped up the solid wooden stocks crossways into a rectangular or square house which was quakeproof. The stone village of the Buyi ethnic group, scattering mostly in the Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces, is such a wonderful masterpiece. The simple equipment like stove, stables and basins are also made of stone.


Brilliant Festivals

If you come at the right time, you will be lucky enough to experience unique festivals of Chinese minorities, for example, the dragon-boat contest each spring, stays as the most important festival even in Dai people's lunar calendar, wishing to shed off evil and misfortune from the last year and anticipate blessings in the coming year. Moreover, in the Water-Splashing Festival, water is splashed on to each other to give best wishes to others. Meanwhile, The Torch Festival is the most traditional one for the Yi ethnic group and held in the sixth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.

Admission Fee: CNY 120 (including the ticket for Splendid China)

Opening Hours: 09:00 to 21:30

By Subway:
Take Shenzhen Subway Line 1 and get off at "Huaqiaocheng" (Overseas Chinese Town) station. Get out of Exit D to reach there.

By Taxi:
If you take a cab from the railway station, the fare is CNY45 or so.
If you take a cab from the airport, the fare is CNY80 or so.

By Public Bus:
From the railway station, take sightseeing bus no.1 or bus no.101 to get there.
From the airport, take bus no.327 to Splendid China directly.

From other parts of Shenzhen, take bus no. 21, 26, 105, 113, 201, 204, 209, 210, 222, 223, 230, 232, 233, 234, 301, 311 and get off at "Jinxiuzhonghua" (Splendid China) station; or "Kangjiajituan" (Konka Group) station, across the overbidge and walk westward for 100m and you will get there.
