Silk Road Tour usually starts from Xi’an and ends at Kashgar. Surrounded with deserts and Gobi, it is terribly hot in summer and extremely cold in winter

Best time for Visit
The best months to travel the Silk Road are the May, June and October.

What to Pack
Warm clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses sunhat and lip creams to keep warm at night and protect your eyes and skin against sandstorm and sunburn.

Comfortable and mild luxury hotels in western style are available in major cities such as Xian, Lanzhou, Dunghuang, Turpan, Urumqi, and Kashgar.
In small towns, however, you have to prepare yourself in the small local hotels.

Along the route, the desert fruits in summer are quite sweet and the mutton is the main dish on some regions and some tourists lost in these exotic food.

Time Zone
China adopts Beijing Standard Time (GMT+8) all over the country. However, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is actually 2 hours later than Beijing time. Therefore, the daytime is usually from 09:00 to 20:00 comparing with Beijing time.

Leave your valuables in the safe box of your hotel but keep them by yourself in small towns. In crowded public areas, such as bus station, train station and bazaar, you must be carefull with your wallets and cameras and so on.


Local taboos
While in Xinjiang, most people believe in Islamism, so you have to respect the local customs and religious belief. You would better eat pork or even talk about pork in front of locals. And while visiting the temples or Mosques, you should follow the guide’s advice
