Eating on Moslem Street

There is a saying widely spreaded in Shaanxi that once you have been to Moslem Street, you won't forget Xian snacks. Yang Rou Pao Mo, a representative snack of Xian, is particularly delicious. Fried rice with pickled Chinese cabbage and little capsicum is quite savoury, typically suit for eating in hot summer's day. Roast beef, mutton or lamb is another snack that can make your mouth water, which can be tasted after being broiled on a charcoal fire with some flavorings on the meat. As for the steamed stuffed bun of Jiasan, whose main ingredients are beef or mutton mixed with the soup decocted from the bones of sheep or cattle is too tasty to be tired of.

Fruit pies with persimmon inside are regarded as the unique refreshment in Xian, taking bright red, glittering and translucent persimmons from the Lintong District of Xian City, Shaanxi Province as the basic ingredients, after getting rid of the pericarp of the persimmons, pounding the flesh, mixing it with flour, then putting the sweet-scented osmanthus and white sugar inside as the stuffing, frying in oil until they are cooked, tasting both savory, sweet and soft.

In spite of what mentioned above, there are also a great many other snacks to be found along this street, such as  casserole, preserved meat, diversified noodles, and so on, all worth a taste.
